The "Order Is Placed" campaign fires when a customer creates an order in your Shopify store — this is the moment the order is created, before payment is confirmed. It's useful for sending a quick acknowledgment or follow-up when someone submits an order using a payment method that isn't instantly confirmed.
When it triggers
This campaign triggers on the order creation event in Shopify. It fires for all new orders, regardless of payment status. If you only want to email customers after payment is confirmed, use the Order Is Paid campaign instead.
Use cases
- Send a follow-up offer or cross-sell a short time after the order is placed
- Notify customers of expected processing times
- Follow up on orders paid by bank transfer or manual payment methods that need confirmation
Setting the delay
You can set the delay to 0 minutes to send immediately when the order is created, or add a delay if you want to follow up later. For cross-sell campaigns, a delay of 30–60 minutes is common, giving the customer time to complete checkout and receive their confirmation before getting another email.
Filtering by order value or products
You can restrict this campaign to fire only for orders above a certain total, or only when specific products are purchased. This is useful for targeting high-value orders or specific product categories. See Filters and Targeting.
