Follow Up Email supports adding discount codes to your automated emails through DynoCode — a coupon code generation service that creates unique, single-use discount codes for each customer who receives your email.

Why use unique codes?

Sharing a single static discount code (like "SAVE10") in your emails means anyone can share that code publicly, eroding your margin on sales that would have happened anyway. Unique codes are generated individually for each customer, so they can only be used once and can't be shared or found online.

How DynoCode works

DynoCode connects to your Shopify store and generates a new, unique discount code when each email is sent. The code is embedded directly in the email and in the call-to-action button link, so clicking the button automatically applies the discount at checkout.

Setting up coupon codes in a campaign

  1. Open a campaign in the editor.
  2. Scroll down to the Discount Codes section.
  3. Connect your DynoCode account or enter your DynoCode configuration details.
  4. Select the discount template you want to use (e.g., 10% off, $5 off, free shipping).
  5. Save the campaign. DynoCode will automatically generate and inject a unique code into each email sent.
Tip: Set up your discount in Shopify first DynoCode generates codes based on a discount template you create in your Shopify admin (Discounts section). Create the base discount in Shopify first (e.g., a 10% off code type), then configure DynoCode to use that template to generate unique variations.

Best practices for discount codes in emails

Using static codes instead

If you prefer a simpler approach, you can include a static discount code directly in your email template text (e.g., "use code WELCOME10 at checkout"). This is less secure than DynoCode but requires no additional setup. Edit the code directly in the email template editor.
